Lives on your desktop

A village that keeps you company while you work

No window frame, no full-screen takeover. The island simply floats over your desktop, next to everything else you have open.

Clicks pass through

The window is transparent. Click any empty spot and you are back in your browser, editor or spreadsheet.

Anywhere you like

Park the island in a corner, zoom in on the market square, move it to another monitor, or tuck it into a bubble with Ctrl+Alt+O.

Works while you are away

Fields, mills and workshops run in real time: at full pace for 12 hours after you close the game, then at half pace for up to a day.

What you do

Deep, never demanding

Production chains with a Polish accent

162 buildings and 184 goods connect into production chains. Set trade rules once and the market sells your surplus for you, while merchant balloons drift by with offers and the merchants' guild researches new crafts.

A village that lives through the seasons

Villagers have names, homes and requests of their own. The season changes every day. In winter the river freezes and villagers build snowmen, go sledding, skate and fish through holes in the ice. Rain leaves puddles, storms roll over the roofs and at night lanterns light up the lanes.

Make it yours

Over 150 decorations: paths and plazas, fences and hedges, gardens and benches, rivers that pour off the island's edge as waterfalls, and even lava. Move and rotate your decorations for free, as often as you like.

Optional: a small army

Raise troops on the castle island, set their formation and send them on missions. Battles play out on their own and you can watch the replay. Prefer peace? Skip it. The army never blocks your progress.

Made in Poland

A small studio and a very Polish village

Hoverwick is made by DIOM Games, a small studio from Poland. You will meet a village elder, bake gingerbread, brew mead, polish amber and, one day, dress a winged hussar. The name says the rest: “hover”, plus “-wick”, the old English word for a settlement.

Questions

What do I need to play?

Planned minimum: 64-bit Windows 10 (21H1 or newer) or Windows 11, a DirectX 11 graphics card, 4 GB of RAM and about 500 MB of disk space. Final requirements will be on the Steam page.

Does it run on Steam Deck, Mac or Linux?

Not at launch. The transparent desktop window relies on Windows features.

Is it an idle game?

Partly. The village works on its own, in real time, even while the game is closed. On top of that there is a whole economy to plan: 184 goods, production chains, trade rules and six kinds of islands. Play for a few minutes between tasks or for a whole evening.

Will it get in the way of my work?

Clicks on empty space go straight to your apps, and Ctrl+Alt+O tucks the village into a small bubble. Your village keeps working either way.

When does it come out and how much will it cost?

The release date and price will be announced on Steam. Wishlist the game to get a note on launch day.

Which languages?

English and Polish at launch.
